Premises Information Box Signs
Off the back of new Fire Safety legislation following on from the Grenfell Tower Inquiry, all high-rise buildings (including student accommodation designed like a block of flats) are recommended to install a Premises Information Box (PIB) that will assist the fire service during a fire emergency; according to the Code of Practice released by the Fire Industry Association in partnership with the National Fire Chiefs Council.
PIB Boxes should be in easy to access areas and should be supplemented with directional signs to assist the fire service in locating the PIB box in an emergency – especially if it is stored inside a building or not in a visibly obvious location from the entrance. The PIB box must also have an aluminium sign affixed to the front of it identifying it as such.
